As the public recognizes the value of canine massage, demand for quality and extensively trained canine massage therapists is increasing. This is why Canine Massage Chicago was born. Like human massage therapists, a canine massage therapist must be astute to the nature and behavior of their client and have exceptional skills in palpation and assessment. Education and hands-on training are the most effective ways to develop these skills. CMC’s programs of study couple education with intense hands-on training offering professional certification in canine massage, as well as ongoing continuing education courses. CMC offers the most intensive, well rounded program in the country.
There are many components of providing hands-on therapy to dogs. Understanding canine behavior, breed specifics and handling, to more specific aspects such as canine anatomy, physiology of stress and veterinary terminology are just a few. Just like human massage therapists, canine massage therapists must be trained in all aspects of care and learn hands-on the utmost skills of palpation, assessment and intuitive touch. When a therapist is knowledgeable and skilled in his or her work, amazing results occur.
Professional Certification
CMC offers two levels of certification. Both certifications are designed to prepare the student for a career in canine massage. Unlike other programs, the CMC method of learning is completely hands-on. We will recommend some preparatory reading prior to enrollment, however visual hands-on training has been found to be the most effective method of learning when working with canines in the field of bodywork.
